CURRENT · PRICE CHANGE

Received a price increase? What to check first.

A price-change notice deserves a careful look. The effective date, terms and any special cancellation right are crucial.

A price change can be a reason to review an energy contract. The letter itself is the most important starting point because it states what changes and when.

Read the notice completely

Check the effective date, the new energy price and basic charge, the reason given and any information about a right to cancel.

Do not rely on the subject line alone. The relevant deadline and the required form of cancellation are normally stated in the notice and contract documents.

Keep the next step orderly

For a standard switch, a new supplier can often handle the ordinary cancellation. A special cancellation right requires particular care: act yourself within the stated time limit and keep proof.

Only then compare alternative terms on a like-for-like basis: consumption, price, term, guarantee and conditions after the introductory period.

A short checklist

  • effective date
  • new energy price and basic charge
  • cancellation deadline
  • proof of any cancellation
Good to know: Compare the complete terms and share personal information only when it is needed for a specific step you have chosen.
