Since January 2026, the gas storage levy has no longer been charged. That removes one item from the calculation, but a household's final gas cost still depends on its contract and consumption.
What has changed
The levy was a state-related price component in gas bills. Its removal reduces that individual component.
It does not mean that every existing tariff falls by the same amount. Suppliers may have different pricing dates, tariffs and contractual conditions.
What remains important
Check the current energy price, the fixed charge, the contract term and the precise wording of a price guarantee.
If you receive a price-change notice, keep it and check the date and deadline before making a decision.
