GUIDE 04 · CONTRACT TERMS

Understanding an energy price guarantee.

A price guarantee can be useful, but its value depends on exactly which price components it covers.

As of 17 October 2026 · about 4 minutes to read

A price guarantee sounds reassuring, yet the wording matters. It can cover different parts of the tariff for different periods.

What a guarantee can cover

A guarantee may cover the supplier's price components, while taxes, levies or network charges can be excluded. The contract wording defines the scope.

Check the start and end date as well. A guarantee that expires shortly before the contract can be extended deserves particular attention.

How to use it in a comparison

A guarantee is one element beside the energy price, basic charge, term, cancellation period and bonus conditions.

The better question is not simply whether a guarantee exists, but whether the complete set of terms suits your household and expected consumption.

A short checklist

  • covered and excluded price components
  • start and end date
  • contract term and renewal
  • energy price and basic charge
Good to know: Compare the complete terms and share personal information only when it is needed for a specific step you have chosen.
